How To Find The Perfect HVAC Ideas For Your Needs

Most homeowners want an HVAC system that works well. If they buy a low quality one or have one that breaks, it can be very frustrating. A bad HVAC system is costly in terms of energy use and repair, and it can make your home uncomfortable to live in. Follow these helpful tips on dealing with your HVAC system.

If you’ve been having trouble with an HVAC system, look around your home before calling in people to help. Note which rooms are hot and which are cold. This can help the contractor determine the problem areas quickly and fix the problem easily.

Clean the condenser coils and fan at the beginning of the year to help the unit run efficiently. If you are doing more than a light surface cleaning, make sure that the power is shut off to the HVAC unit. Remove leaves and debris from the outdoor unit.

Don’t get grass clippings on your outside unit. Make sure the grass does not get in your unit. The same goes for blowing leaves, so always be careful if you are moving debris near your HVAC devices.

HVAC units may suffer when leaves are falling off the trees. Make sure you clean out your fan grill often once nearby trees start shedding their leaves. The fan needs to be able to get proper air inside without any blockages, and extra blockage can later develop into more serious problems.

Lubricate the oil ports on your condenser once each year. They generally have a rubber or metal cap on them. Get an oil that is SAE 20 and put about 10 drops into each port, but don’t overfill it.

Put outdoor units in the shade if you are installing them. If your air conditioner is able to constantly suck in cool air, it won’t have to work overtime to cool your space, which can in turn save you money on your electricity bills.

Installing double paned windows can save a lot of money over single panes, so upgrade if you are able. Double pane windows help minimize your air conditioning use in the summer by keeping the cooler air inside your home. This also helps retain heated air during the colder months.
